BA (Magna Cum Laude) in History and Adolescence Education, with departmental honors in history, from St. Joseph's College. Deans List, eight semesters. Member of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. Certified in Social Studies grades 7-12. Member of the National Council for the Social Studies and the Long Island Council for the Social Studies. Member of the National Council for Economic Education. Member of TOPPS (Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools.) Mrs. Scanlon attends living history events as a Civil War reenactor with her husband, a member of the 119th New York Volunteers Historical Association, and volunteers as a historic interpreter at Old Bethpage Village Restoration.
